Name:: Nakomi
Nickname:: Nakomi
Gender:: Female
Age:: 8 years
Pack:: Looking to join the Gawain Pack.
Status:: Loner
Ranking:: Loner
*Height:: Somewhere between 25 and 30 inches at the shoulder.
*Weight:: Approximately 110 lbs.
*Length:: About 45 inches long.
*Sub-Species:: Mexican Gray Wolf.
Body Build:: Nakomi is a thin wolf, and has grown even thinner with age, but her thick coat works to hide her ribs and hips. Hunting has grown harder for Nakomi, but being the proud wolf she is, she refuses to accept meals from other wolves. Though bony, Nakomi has muscle enough to get her where she needs to go, and her long legs and broad chest make running, or, more often, walking, easy. Her muzzle is long and slender, and her large, wide set ears are round in shape. Her refined features give her an air of maturity and wisdom, and she carries herself with elegance and power of an aged queen.
*Eye Color:: Gold. Nakomi’s yellow eyes hold years of memories, and are often set on some far off place, unless she is conversing with another wolf.
*Fur Color:: Nakomi’s dark fur has lightened with age, her once black/gray coat now peppered with whites and light grays, particularly around her muzzle. The red undertones of her fur are still present around her ears and eyes, as well as her lower legs.
History:: A lot happens in eight years. Wolves grow close, drift apart, get hurt, grow old, lose hope and find it again. Indeed, life is a series of ups and down, a journey only the strong survive. Nakomi’s journey began in the forest in which she was born, a young pup open to the world and its teachings. As she matured, she became a great huntress, and earned high esteem in her pack. A brute by the name of Bane became smitten with her, and she with him, and before long they were expecting pups. It was a cold, cloudy day when Bane left with the pack to hunt, and Nakomi, who was due to give birth any day, lay in the den awaiting his return. Several hours later, when the hunting party had still not returned, an elder went out to search for them. He returned with the news that broke Nakomi’s heart: her beloved, and the rest of the hunting party, had been killed by hunters. Sensing the forest was no longer safe, Nakomi travelled with the remainder of her pack to the far north, where she gave birth to three pups. She was still a young fae, barely four years, and a pretty thing. After her three pups were weaned, another brute forced himself upon her, and Nakomi was soon pregnant again. She despised the brute who called himself her mate, but chose to avoid him rather than do battle, knowing violence was pointless. When it came time to give birth once more, she snuck off on her own, far away from the pack, and gave birth to two pups. One was stillborn, and the other was too small to have a fighting chance. She buried the stillborn pup in the snow and brought the tiny pup back to the pack, where he died the next day. Tired of pack life, Nakomi made ready to leave, telling only her sister, Kita, of her plans. She asked Kita to accompany her, but the fae refused, and told the Alpha what Nakomi was planning. When Nakomi found out, she fled, and hasn’t looked back. She has been in several packs besides her first, but never for very long, staying only long enough to set misguided wolves on the right path. Nakomi has had ample time to reflect on her past, and though there are many things she wishes could change, she accepts it for what it is and learns from her mistakes.
Relatives:: Long gone by now, hardly worth recalling.
Offspring:: Tinka, Kenai, and Sitka; all old enough to be parents themselves.
Beloved:: Bane, though it’s been many a year since she stood at his side.
Personality:: Nakomi is a levelheaded wolf, a sensible fae with an even temper. She is critical of others, particularly younger, showy wolves who boast of more strength and wisdom than they possess, but she knows time is the best teacher, and they will one day see the error of their ways. Her thoughts of others are kept largely to herself, but when asked for her opinion she will respond with brutal honesty. What can she say, the truth hurts. She will provide council only when asked, and be warned, she is not a wolf to spare your feelings. Nakomi does not expect kindness, only respect, and that is what she gives. She has acquired great wisdom over the years, and has lived through times of great hardship, treating each mistake or difficulty as a learning experience. She is an old wolf, and at times wishes she had led an easier life, but she knows better than any that a wolf’s life is a hard one.
